About the Historic Homestead
Built in 1912 by
the Government the homestead still has the it's original Kauri
(native NZ wood) floors, window surrounds and the doors. The
house was built to accommodate the workers who worked at the
ship to shore wireless station which was located on the farm
next door. Then the NZ Army took the house over in World War 1
and it was used the accommodate officers. When the war was over
the army sold it to a local school teacher who in turn sold it
to another local family and then my husband and I purchased it
in 1997.

The
homestead was very run down and we had the fun in restoring it.
It took us 2 years to fully restore the house which we both
worked on full time 5 days a week.

About
Us - Cherie & Clive
|

My husband Clive and
I moved to the Far North from Auckland with our 2 children, Elaine and Leigh,
for a better life style. We had seen the house several years before but it
was not for sale at that time. Clive is fantastic at anything he
puts his hands to, that is why the house is in the beautiful
condition it is today.

We were
both born in Auckland, grew up together. We both like the outdoors,
travelling in our bus, and motor bike rides on the weekends when we can. We enjoy meeting new people
and sharing experiences.
Clive
works for Stonecraft Construction building swimming pools around the Far
North.
We also
have two friendly dogs.
